Western vs. Natural Plant-based view on Lyme disease
Intro paragraaf: This blog post covers Lyme disease; an interview with the client before she started taking the Personalized Formula and Natural Detox and, at the end of this post, her results after the six-month treatment period.
Lyme disease
Lyme is considered a ‘silent killer’. The longer this inflammatory agent causes damage to cells, brain and nervous system in the body, the more complicated it becomes to solve the cause and create healthy cell renewal. The life-energy and communication between the cells in the body and the brain decreases as the damage increases.
The interview below demonstrates how a tick bite with a bacterium ‘Borrelia burgdorferi’ infection causes Lyme disease. This interview took place before she started her personalized formula and natural detox treatment. At the end of the post, you can read more about the results afterwards.
Interview
A day in the life of a patient with Lyme disease
Infections can occur to anyone at any time if proper hygienic precautions are not taken. I was not worried about it too much because I thought I was taking good care of my skin and hygiene. I knew – or should I say, I thought – that infections were minor complaints because they can probably last just for a few days or at least no more than a month!
Today I learned that there are exceptions! Some infections can continue to trouble us for several months and Lyme disease is one of them. I know because I am suffering from it. This disease is caused due to a bacterium called Borrelia Burgdorferi. That is why it is called Lyme Borreliosis. I caught this infection when I was bitten by an infected tick. Let me describe to you how this infection has affected me and how my life has been since I got this disease.
Waking up in the morning
The first thing I notice after waking up in the morning is joint pain. My neck, knees, shoulders, elbows, and hips feel very stiff and painful. The first thing I do in the morning is scratch my skin. I do not experience much itchiness at night while I am asleep because of the effect of the sedatives the doctor has prescribed me. I started using this medicine around 3 to 4 months after I was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
I had to deal with several sleepless nights due to the joint pain and itchiness caused by this infection. Taking a dose of sedative helps me sleep well. But its effect only lasts up to 8 hours; so, when I get up, these symptoms come up again to disturb me.
Starting the day
Brushing my teeth has become an ordeal for me because of the weakness of my facial muscles. I find it very difficult to move my tongue and the muscles in the oral cavity and face. I developed caries in my teeth thrice in the past few months due to improper oral hygiene. So, nowadays, one of my family members helps me by brushing my teeth at least every alternate day to maintain oral hygiene and prevent caries. Additionally, I need them to wash my face for me.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
There have been no specific changes in my diet to control the symptoms of Lyme disease. However, the doctor has advised me to eat nutritious foods, especially those containing a high level of vitamin C like citrus fruits.
According to him, I may have developed this infection due to low immunity. I have a history of randomly developing infections, which sometimes happens once every month. But, so far, the infections have been very mild, as if I’m dealing the common cold or flu. This is the first time I have developed a more serious infection.
I stick to a nutritious and well-balanced diet. I also make sure I eat plenty of green vegetables to prevent iron deficiency anemia. I also drink at least 2 liters of water every day to prevent dehydration following recurrent loose motions.
The doctor said perhaps my immune system is not strong enough to fight bacteria and viruses. His opinion has a valid base. None of my friends who have visited Lyme disease-prone countries contracted this disease, except me.
So, now, my diet contains at least one citrus fruit a day. I must say this has helped me because I have not caught a common cold or flu in the past few months. I will continue to include vitamin C-rich foods in my diet even after I have completely recovered from Lyme disease.
Other than including citrus fruits, I have also made some other healthy changes in my diet to improve my overall health and prevent weakness. I eat lots of protein-rich foods such as eggs and almonds to prevent fatigue caused due to fever and other symptoms of Lyme disease.
Going to work and taking medications
I went from being a front-desk executive, dealing directly with customers, to a back-office executive. This is due to the facial paralysis caused by the disease, which has affected my speech to a great extent. Therefore, I was forced to ask my employer to move me to the back-office.
Unfortunately, the difficulties didn’t end here. I have been taking too many sick leaves due to high fever and the frequent flaring up of itchiness and skin rashes on some days. I conveyed my health concern to my employer, and luckily he has been cooperative with me. He has accommodated my frequent absentees patiently. I am aware that not every employer would be this kind and supportive.
I was prescribed antibiotics when I developed skin rash and fever initially. However, when the symptoms persisted, I was asked to undergo some lab tests, which revealed Lyme disease. Based on the diagnosis, the doctor changed the antibiotics, which I am now using regularly. But, the recovery has been slow probably due to my low immunity.
Prevention of Lyme disease complications
If I had paid heed to the public health department’s warning about the high-risk countries for Lyme disease, I would have probably been spared of these symptoms. I went ahead with my vacation plans and returned to my own country with this infection!
Anyways… I suppose it is wiser to learn from our mistakes instead of pondering about what’s already happened. Now, I take utmost care to prevent any infection caused by tick bites. I have been informed about the steps to prevent Lyme disease and its complications like using insect repellents, applying pesticides, removing ticks promptly and staying away from places where ticks like to reside.
I have also positively changed my dietary habits, drink plenty of water and take enough rest to prevent weakness, fever, and other symptoms of this disease. I have also stopped using moisturizers and other chemical-laden skin care products as the toxic effects of those chemicals may worsen my skin symptoms.
What are the daily limitations and what are the fears?
My doctor has assured me that the infection will resolve within 2 to 3 months. Actually, in my case, the duration of this illness has prolonged a lot. Most patients recover completely within a few weeks of contracting Lyme disease. However, only a small percentage continues to suffer for about 5 to 6 months. About 3 months have already passed. So, I hope, in the next 2 months, the symptoms would reduce completely.
But, till then, I will have to live with Lyme disease. I am sure you will understand how difficult it is for me to carry out routine activities with facial paralysis, severe weakness, fever and skin rashes.
Though the skin rash isn’t as intense now; I do get severe itching sometimes, which is difficult to control. I avoid going out with my friends or relatives as I fear being caught in an embarrassing situation due to the intense itching. Also, the rash looks a bit odd like a “bull’s eye”.
Once the rash appears, it spreads outwards in a circular fashion. Then, a few days later, it begins to resolve from the center. The end result looks like a faded area in the center of the affected skin, which becomes darker as it moves towards the outer area. I wear long sleeves and try to cover my body as much as possible to hide the embarrassing rash.
What does the future look like?
I am hopeful the infection will clear up in the next few months. But I am worried about facial paralysis and arthritis. My joints have been damaged a lot. So, the joint pain might persist for a longer duration. I might also need a few more months to gain back the strength of my facial muscles.
I am also worried about my skin. It’s no longer as clean and clear as it used to be. I am not sure whether it will ever be even-toned with a natural glow like I had before I suffered from Lyme disease.
What are the risk factors?
The only ways I could have prevented Lyme disease was by not visiting these high-risk countries or by taking precautions to avoid being bitten by ticks. I suppose everyone should keep these simple points in mind to reduce their risk of this infection.
The evolution of Lyme disease
When the symptoms began, the first thing I noticed was a skin rash on my hands and feet. The rash spread in a circular manner and resolved in the same way only to appear in other parts of the body. I also developed paralysis of my face along with joint pain, stiffness of the neck, fever and itchiness. The symptoms have reduced to some extent over the past 2 months. But, as being told by my doctor, I might have to wait for another 2 to 3 months to completely recover.
What are the psychological effects when you have Lyme disease?
The dependency on others to do simple tasks like brushing my teeth, the fear of developing itchiness while in a public place and the thought of never regaining my natural beauty are some concerns that haunt me all day long. It makes me feel very insecure to the extent that I have started avoiding going out for a movie, dinner and meeting my friends. Only time will tell when and how I will be able to live a normal life again!
The end of the interview
This interview took place around a week before starting her personalized formula and natural detox treatment. One of the practitioners we’ve been working with for years was a close friend and asked us to help her out.
The natural view
The natural view is to remove the source of inflammation and support healthy cell renewal. At NaturalMedicine.ge we create personalized formulas based on natural plant-based solutions that support the immune system in her removal and cell renewing activities to solve this disease from the source.
Our unique and specialized urine analysis is aimed at investigating substances, such as chemicals, (heavy) metals and other inflammatory factors that give a clear indication of the load on your body cells and your cell renewal process. This information is needed to provide anyone with the health solution they are looking for.
The six-month Personalized Formula and Natural Detox treatment
By analyzing her morning urine, our expert team was able to create a plant-based formula and natural detox that would help her get rid of Lyme disease. Our formulas support the immune system in cleaning out all necessary viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and other toxic substances out of the blood system, organs, tissues and lymphatic system.
This natural process needs six months to remove all inflammatory (infection) agents such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi from the body and to restore the natural cell balance.
How the client has improved
In the client’s case, the bacterium “Borrelia burgdorferi’ had already done a lot of damage in the body and brain. The cell renewing process was in a degenerative mode. We, at NaturalMedicine.ge, are aware that this is challenging for both the client and our expert team.
The cell renewing cycle of organs is about 6-8 weeks. This means that when the immune system removes the infection agents from the body, every 6-8 weeks the new cells can be healthier than before. For nerve cells, this cycle takes longer. Depending on the damage in the brain and nerves, this repairing process to improve all physical capabilities takes more time. The client clearly understood this when we started.
We are happy to share with you that, six months after she started her recovery journey with us, her health has improved enormously. The increase in her life energy and the healthier cell renewing process started in the third month, which had led to more strength and stability in the muscles. In the fifth month the brain-muscle communication improved. In month six the client could support and wash herself again without any assistance.
Note:
Lyme is considered a ‘silent killer’. The success rate depends on the damage that the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium made before starting the Natural Detox and Personalized Formula treatment. In most cases, the cell degeneration can be stopped by the immune system, which provides time for the body to recover. When physical movements are an issue, then physical exercises are necessary during and after the treatment period. This physical exercise can be done under the guidance of a practitioner and/or family member.
